Samaritan Club Advisor: Tim Tanis
The Samaritan Club is a student-run community service organization for the purpose of sharing God’s love with others in the community through service work. According to senior Marcus Garcia, co-leader with senior Wesley Wilson, the club's core goals and values include growing deeper relationships with God, building personal character, as well as demonstrating kindness, humility and humbleness.
In the past, the Samaritan Club has served in a variety of ways, including helping individuals as well as larger organizations (city of Turlock, Samaritan House, etc.). A few projects that students have participated in previous years were: painting backstops at Pedretti, putting sealant on play structures, working with Turlock Together to package food for homeless people, as well as helping a woman move furniture to her mother’s room in a nursing home.
This year's club goal is to organize two projects per quarter starting mid-October, and they are planning a full schedule! One of their main objectives is to feed the homeless with proceeds from fundraising events. Turlock Christian High School has a very exciting opportunity to take a group of students on a Summer Missions trip to the Dominican Republic. God’s given TC a chance to join Students International on a 13-day trip to serve and share the Gospel overseas. This will be a new experience for many of us and I can’t tell you how excited I am about what God has planned for the students of Turlock Christian!
