In December 1997, the Lord led the Board and Administration to purchase twenty acres on the east side of Quincy Avenue, between Monte Vista Avenue and Tuolumne Rd, for $550,000.  We believe the Lord would have Turlock Christian High School on its own campus in the near future.  Many necessary components of a quality education remain difficult, if not impossible, to provide without owning our own High School facilities.  At substantially the same time, the Board and Administration committed to the building of a Media Center/Science Lab on the Junior/Senior High Campus. A Capital Campaign was initiated to fund these new ventures.

The Capital Campaign generated $630,000 in cash and pledges, from which we are still receiving monthly income. Approximately $200,000 was used to complete the Media Center/Science Lab, which opened in 2002. This 30’ X 120” building houses a library, computer lab, science lab and a science classroom. We have used approximately $330,000 for payments of principal and interest and still have approximately $70,000 in the Capital Campaign fund. The current loan balance on our Quincy property is $280,000. It should be noted that the value of the property has risen well over 100% since it was purchased.

In 2001, the school administration sought City approval to build a high school on our Quincy property. The Planning Commission and City Council did not approve the request. Since that time, the administration and board have actively pursued a variety of other property options.

We made several facility improvements at our Elementary School campus in 2003-04. Two new relocatable classrooms have been added to accommodate increased enrollment. One of the classrooms will house our school library while the other will be used for a first grade classroom. In addition, an attractive new playground apparatus has been installed on the east side of the campus.

Now God has brought us to an exciting time in which our current plans include building a HS Campus on a new piece of property located on the corner of Monte Vista and Quincy Avenues.  We invite you to read a note from our superintendent about our current Building Capital Campaign.  Also, be sure to visit our New HS Campus web page.

Please continue to join with us in prayer about where God is leading us towards building a quality high school for our children and grandchildren in the 21st century.
